1st-2nd A favorable time for sowing grains, hay, and forage crops. Plant flowers. Favorable days for planting root crops.
3rd-5th Start seedbeds. Good days for transplanting. Plant carrots, turnips, onions, beets, Irish potatoes, other root crops in the South. Also good for Leafy vegetables.
6th-7th Do no planting.
8th-9th First day is good planting day for root crops where climate permits. Second day is good for planting aboveground crops such as sweet corn, beans, and peppers in southern Florida, Texas, and California.
10th-11th A good time to kill plant pests or do plowing. Poor for planting.
12th-13th Extra good for peppers, tomatoes, peas and other vine crops. Fine for planting any aboveground crop where the climate permits.
14th-16th Barren days, do no planting.
17th-18th Fine for planting beans, peppers, cucumbers, melons, and other aboveground crops where climate is suitable.
19th-20th Poor days for planting, seeds tend to rot in ground.
21st-22nd Plant seedbeds and flower gardens. Best planting days for aboveground crops, especially peas, beans, cucumbers, and squash where climate is suitable.
23rd-27th A barren time. Best for killing weeds, briars, poison ivy, and other plant pests. Clear wood lots and fencerows.
28th-29th A favorable time for sowing grains, hay, and forage crops. Plant flowers. Favorable days for planting root crops.
30th-31st Start seedbeds. Good days for transplanting. Plant carrots, turnips, onions, beets, Irish potatoes, other root crops in the South. Also good for Leafy vegetables.
